CSCA's Junior Ambassadors - News & Information

CSCA Executive Junior Ambassadors Installation

Juniors in KVFounding Junior CSCA members Erica, Andrea, and Gretchen in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, July, 2011.

Our founding group of junior ambassadors represent Carlsbad Sister City Ambassadors as Executive Junior Ambassadors and are looking to further students' involvement in international relationships. Their mission is to fund-raise to reinstate the Carlsbad Sister City student exchange program. The junior ambassador organization looks to facilitate youth participation in the sister city movement by increasing the number of local programs to undertake youth and education programs. "We recognize that youth are the future of the sister cities and we need their active involvement at the local, national, and international levels."

We are interested in recruiting high school students from Carlsbad and Sage Creek high schools who would like to become involved in the Junior Ambassadors program. As a junior ambassador, they would be invited to attend regular JA meetings from 4-5pm at City Hall on the second Thursday of each month (subject to holidays). If you have any children, grandchildren, family or friends in this age group who would be interested, please fill out and submit the adjoining interest form. Those who choose to participate will gain community service hours, leadership skills, and may be able to visit one of Carlsbad's sister cities.

Our Executive Junior Ambassadors also recently founded the Carlsbad High School Sister Cities Club on campus.  The separate mission of the CHS Club members is to assemble a suitcase filled with items representing Carlsbad’s sister cities’ cultures and educate elementary and middle schoolers by presenting it, which would also help educate new members of the Club.

Carlsbad Sister City Ambassadors is grateful that FIRA (Futtsu Sister Cities) offered to receive our students and helped ensure that this trip was one that our students will long remember. Of all the places that they visited on this trip, they were most excited about meeting the Futtsu families they stayed with and experiencing the beautiful Japanese culture. Pictured above, clockwise from top left, are Rachael, Teagan, Diego, Erin, Emma (alternate), Arriana, and Emily.
